About this worksheet
A free printable doubles and near doubles worksheet with an answer key. Doubles are numbers added to themselves. Near doubles are one more. Solve them all. It matches first grade goals, roughly ages 6 to 7. Use small objects like buttons or cereal to check tricky problems.
On this sheet
20 problems, starting with 8 + 8, 6 + 6, 10 + 10, 2 + 2, 9 + 9, 10 + 11, 7 + 8, 5 + 5, 6 + 7, 3 + 3, 9 + 10, 4 + 4, 1 + 2, 1 + 1, and 6 more. The answers to all of them are on page 2.
Tips for using it
- Have your child say each fact out loud while writing the answer.
- Teach the make-10 trick early: 8 + 5 is the same as 8 + 2 + 3 = 13.
- Doubles (6 + 6, 7 + 7) are easy to remember and help with near doubles like 6 + 7.
- For column addition, always start with the ones column on the right.
Printing tips
Download the PDF and print at 100% (or “fit to page” on A4). Page 1 is the worksheet and page 2 is the answer key with the answers in red; print just page 1 if you want to keep the answers for checking. The PNG shows page 1 only. Free for personal, family and classroom use.
