About this worksheet
A free printable area with unit squares (set 2) worksheet with an answer key. Count the squares inside each rectangle to find its area. It is aimed at third grade, around ages 8 to 9. Guess first, then measure: kids get better at estimating with every try.
Answer key at a glance
1) Area = 20 square units; 2) Area = 55 square units; 3) Area = 16 square units; 4) Area = 22 square units; 5) Area = 54 square units; 6) Area = 80 square units.
Tips for using it
- Line the object up with the 0 on the ruler, not with the end of the ruler.
- Measure a few things at home too, like a spoon, a shoe or a toy car.
- Perimeter: add all the sides. For a rectangle, double the length plus the width.
- Area: multiply length by width and write 'square' units.
