About this worksheet
A free printable weigh it with cubes: balance scale measuring worksheet with an answer key. Each scale is balanced. Count the cubes to find how much each thing weighs, then compare. It matches first grade goals, roughly ages 6 to 7. Guess first, then measure: kids get better at estimating with every try.
Tips for using it
- Read each answer as a sentence: 38 is greater than 29.
- Remember: the open side of the sign faces the bigger number.
- Line the object up with the 0 on the ruler, not with the end of the ruler.
- Before each scale, ask: which side went down? That side is heavier, every time.
Printing tips
Download the PDF and print at 100% (or “fit to page” on A4). Page 1 is the worksheet and page 2 is the answer key with the answers in red; print just page 1 if you want to keep the answers for checking. The PNG shows page 1 only. Free for personal, family and classroom use.
