Tips for coloring Daisy
- Leave the petals white and outline each one with a light gray or pale blue pencil so they stand out on white paper.
- Dab the center with small dots of yellow and orange instead of one flat layer to give it a bumpy, seedy texture.
- For a gerbera look, give every daisy a different petal color, like pink, coral, red or purple, and keep the centers dark brown.
Fun facts about Daisy
- A daisy is really two kinds of flowers in one: the white petals are ray flowers and the yellow center is packed with tiny disc flowers.
- The name daisy comes from the Old English words for day's eye, because the common daisy opens at sunrise and closes at night.
- Daisies belong to the aster family, one of the largest plant families on Earth, which also includes sunflowers, dandelions and lettuce.
Fun ways to use your printables
- Pick a few lawn daisies, if allowed, and make a real daisy chain by threading each stem through a small slit in the next one.
- Count the petals on your daisy page and color every second one a different shade, like a game of 'loves me, loves me not'.
- Cut out the colored daisies and glue them around the rim of a paper plate to make a spring wreath or a flower crown.
