About this maze
Hard maze number 1: a printable hard maze on a 20 by 22 grid. Start at the top, find the only path to the finish. A real challenge for older kids and adults. Narrow paths and many dead ends make it a real brain teaser for older kids and adults. Color the start and finish arrows in green and red.
This maze by the numbers
On this 20 x 22 grid the only correct path runs through 251 of the 440 squares (about 57%) and turns 152 times between START and FINISH. It has 43 dead ends where a wrong turn stops, and most kids at this level finish it in about 18 minutes. Bonus challenge: after you reach FINISH, color the 251 squares of the right path in one color, then hunt down all 43 dead ends and mark each one with an X. If you count fewer than 43, keep looking!
Coloring ideas
- Trace the correct path with a highlighter once you solve it.
- Trace the path with your finger first, then with a pencil.
- If you get stuck, try solving the maze backward from the finish.
- Use a highlighter to mark the correct path once you find it.
