Spot the Difference: Garden Bugs
Here are two pictures of a sunny backyard garden with a picket fence, a tall sunflower, a buzzing bee, a butterfly, a snail and a caterpillar. In the bottom one, 7 things are not the same as in the top one. Some changes are easy to spot and some need a careful second look, good for grades 1 and 2. Mark each find on the tally circles and color both pictures afterwards. Page 2 has the answers circled in red.

About this worksheet
Here are two pictures of a sunny backyard garden with a picket fence, a tall sunflower, a buzzing bee, a butterfly, a snail and a caterpillar. In the bottom one, 7 things are not the same as in the top one. Some changes are easy to spot and some need a careful second look, good for grades 1 and 2. Mark each find on the tally circles and color both pictures afterwards. Page 2 has the answers circled in red. It is a medium puzzle page for ages 8 to 10 and anyone who has solved the easy ones.
Tips for using it
- Scan in a pattern: compare the top left corner of both pictures, then move across and down, so no part gets skipped.
- Check the sky and the edges too; changes often hide away from the main character.
- Say what you see out loud (three candles, two candles) to catch changes in numbers.
Printing tips
Download the PDF and print at 100% (or “fit to page” on A4). Page 1 is the worksheet and page 2 is the answer key with the answers in red; print just page 1 if you want to keep the answers for checking. The PNG shows page 1 only. Free for personal, family and classroom use.
