Tips for times table charts 1 to 12
- Read the poster of the week out loud every morning, then cover the answers with a sticky note and try again.
- Point out the patterns on each poster, like every answer in the 2s being even, before trying to memorize the facts.
- Move on to the next poster only when your child can say the current table in any order, not just top to bottom.
Fun math facts
- The 4 times table is the 2 times table doubled, and the 8 times table is the 4 times table doubled again.
- In the 9 times table from 9 x 1 to 9 x 10, the tens digit goes up by one while the ones digit goes down by one.
- Every answer in the 6 times table is even, and each one is double the matching answer in the 3 times table.
Fun ways to use your printables
- Chant the poster of the week to the tune of a favorite nursery rhyme, because rhythm makes facts easier to recall.
- Color the count-by strip on the poster, cut it out and use it as a bookmark for the week.
- Quiz each other in the car using the poster of the week, taking turns to ask and to answer.

Frequently asked questions
In what order should kids learn the times tables?
A common order is 2, 10, 5, then 3, 4, then 6, 7, 8, 9, and finally 11 and 12. Each new table is easier because many of its facts were already learned the other way around.
