About this dot-to-dot
Connect the dots from 2 to 40 to draw a penguin with a bow tie on the ice, then color it in. It doubles as skip counting practice: the dots go up by 2s. Page 2 of the PDF is the answer key with the finished picture. With 20 to 30 dots it is great counting practice for kindergarten to 2nd grade. Trace the big number with a finger first, then color it in your favorite color.
Coloring ideas
- Say the number out loud each time you trace it.
- Count the pictures twice: once by pointing, once by coloring a dot on each one.
- Use real objects like coins or pasta to build the number before writing it.
- Put a finger on the next number before drawing the line, so the pencil never jumps to the wrong dot.
Printing tips
Download the PDF for the sharpest result and print at 100% (or “fit to page” on A4). The PNG is 300 DPI, which is handy for tablets and coloring apps. This page is free for personal, family and classroom use.
