About this worksheet
Four border patterns drawn along grid lines: a castle wall, double arrows, pyramid steps and ocean waves. Continuing them builds pencil control and careful counting, a great warm-up before grid drawing. The answer key is on page 2. It fits second grade, around ages 7 to 8.
Answer key at a glance
1) Castle wall; 2) Double arrows; 3) Pyramid steps; 4) Ocean waves.
Tips for using it
- Copy one square at a time and check where each line enters and leaves the square before you draw.
- Draw lightly in pencil first; when the whole picture is in place, trace over it and color it.
- Turn the example picture upside down for a challenge: it stops your brain from guessing and makes you copy what you really see.
Printing tips
Download the PDF and print at 100% (or “fit to page” on A4). Page 1 is the worksheet and page 2 is the answer key with the answers in red; print just page 1 if you want to keep the answers for checking. The PNG shows page 1 only. Free for personal, family and classroom use.
